In this recent Stowe Vermont mold remediation project, we found that a crawl space had no vapor barrier, leading to the humidity from the ground entering the home and causing mold growth everywhere. You can see it on this door and it even affected this leather chair. It just proves that mold can adversely affect almost any organic material.
As always, we completely removed the mold by both treating and cleaning it from all surfaces, and fully remediating the basement. As you can see in the image of the crawl space, we also installed a vapor barrier to cut down on humidity entering home. Since the dryer vent was also not attached properly, we made sure that would not contribute more moisture to the building. High summer humidity can turn potential issues into real problems, so we recommend home inspections to ward off damage like we see in these pictures.
